Que le voyage commence!

On the morning of the 3rd of September I (Stephie) landed in the Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to begin what will probably be the hardest, most exiting year of my life. For those of you that don't know Im going to be an AFS exchange student in France for one year to learn the language etc. The flight managed to take us around about 40 hours in total as we had to stop over in Singapore annnnd Frankfurt airport. But lets start at the begining.

After being told we only had a luggage allouance of 20kgs my friend Hannah and I were freaking over how the hell we would fit our entire lives into a suitcase firstly. And secondly at THAT weight. My mom smartly came up with the idea to pack a second bag before we left my house just incase my bag was underweight so that i could put more stuff in it. When we got there and Hannah put her bag on the conveyer belt and the weight popped up as 26kgs we both looked at each other horrified. Problem was the lady at the counter didn't. Thus we asked is the bag was over weight. To which she replied "No you were allowed 30kgs". So we had a mini marathon back to the car and back to the check in counter. Here we met all the other AFS students traveling to France, Austria and to Spain as we were all flying together.
The flights were long. In Singapore airport Hannah and I , and our new friends Ryan and Marshall decided to go to a Thai restaraunt as instead of having Chinese we wanted something a little less greasy. The boys decided to order everything on the menu that looked just gross, So here is a wee story with pictures:

mmmmmm Thai spring rolls.

Nb.6 Weird jelly cubes with the texture of old glue.

Mango Custard as recommended by the Waiter, and the soursop Juice, which gave Ryan a mouth rash for 10 minutes.

Yum.

Anyway when we arrived at the airport we were stopped from going to the conveyerbelt to collect our luggage because an un-attended bag had been left in the area so the army had to come in and destroy it incase it was a bomb. Not in New Zealand any more!! When we arrived we had to wear the  AFS t-shirts so that we were recognizable to the AFS representatives when we walked out of le Sortie.

Bienvenue a Paris!!!
